Building a Christian Worldview

GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

The proliferation of widely diverse worldviews in the western world and the global diversity of competing religions make it a priority that every Christian high school student develops what Harry Blamires called "the Christian mind." This is nothing less than what the Apostle Paul called having the "mind of Christ." (1 Cor. 2:16) Each must be prepared to think Biblically about all areas of life; each must be equipped "to give a reason for the hope that is within." (1 Pet. 3:15)

The Building a Christian Worldview Series assumes that ideas have consequences. How one thinks about origins, theology, philosophy, and the purpose of life will influence how life is lived. During the course of each year's study, the student will explore through critical reading the basic tenets of Christian theism as they relate to such crucial questions of meaning, purpose, and values. After assimilating this content, the student will be challenged to articulate a coherent Christian worldview through critical writing. Furthermore, the student will evaluate through critical analysis the contemporary presence of worldviews in their immediate, national, and global context. All three elements of critical reading, critical writing, and critical analysis form the basis for understanding current events from a worldview perspective and applying Biblical truth to the contemporary setting. The Building a Christian Worldview Series is a crucial weapon against being taken "captive through vain philosophy and empty deception." (Col. 2:8)
