Richard G. Patton is the founder and headmaster of Aleithia Learning Community (ALC). In a formal sense, ALC exists to equip homeschooling parents with educational materials and strategies for effective Christ-centered teaching; and to equip homeschooling students with critical thinking skills and a broad base of knowledge content for effective, Christ-centered living. In an informal sense, ALC is a community of Christian homeschooling families pursuing the common goal of Christ-centered education. Aleithia Project was founded as the means to publish materials and offer services to the ALC families and to the broader homeschool community - materials and services that equip and encourage homeschooling parents in the true foundation for education and homeschooling students in the true foundation for life, for both time and eternity: the wisdom of God.

Rick and his wife, Lindsay, began homeschooling in 1988. All three of their children, Miriam, John, and Naomi, have been homeschooled from the outset of their formal education; and all three have been nurtured using the educational materials found within the Aleithia Project Study Guides.

Rick holds a B.S. in education from West Chester University, an M.A. in Christian School Administration from Grace Theological Seminary and an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Biblical Theological Seminary. Prior to founding ALC in 1989, Rick worked as a teacher and administrator for 12 years in both public and private Christian schools. Many of the principles found in the Aleithia Project Study Guides were developed during his tenure as Director of Curriculum Development. In 1998 and 2005, Rick was recognized with the Who's Who Among America's Teachers Award. He has authored the following: Aleithia Project Study Guides: Building a Christian Worldview (two volumes); Building Word Power from Classical Roots (three volumes); Exploring History - A Christian and Critical Reading Approach for elementary, middle school, and high school levels (four volumes each); and the Critical Reading Road to Writing and Speaking for elementary, middle school, and high school levels (four volumes each).
